Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Deadly Car Crash
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, officials in Lagos stated on late Wednesday. The 36-year-old was caught in a vehicular crash in the Lagos area on the 29th of December, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his valued colleagues.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
The boxer had been receiving medical attention while recuperating from non-critical injuries, representatives confirmed on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was declared medically stable to leave and heal privately.
“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two departed friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” Omotosho said.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The victims of the crash were named as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the passing of his two trusted companions.”
This update on his health arrives after the sports world had expressed sympathy for the champion in the aftermath of the terrible crash.
