The Streaming Platform to Bring a Popular Game TV Series from the Creators of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.
The most recent action-packed instalment that players experienced was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito as the antagonist, Antón, and debuted during October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it has a reputation for delighting in violence and insanity with equal excitement, all while telling gripping, ideologically themed tales. No wonder then that FX's decision for a Far Cry anthology series attracted two producers whose creations have exemplified all of those elements.
What to Expect
Adapted from Ubisoft's successful video game franchise, the limited anthology series will stream on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The anthology will also follow the video games' structure by having a new location and cast of characters in every instalment.
Executive Team
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as showrunners on the series under their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
We’ve shared outstanding relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is fresh, gripping, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our associates at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this beloved property.”
Upcoming Developments
Mac will also appear in the show, but currently, we are unsure of what role that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just renewed for a second instalment, with FX and Disney signing a new comprehensive agreement with the showrunner.
“Being able to collaborate with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly accommodating, placing faith in us with one of the most famous video-game worlds ever created. And through it all, my FX team always encourages me with their constant trust and support.”
“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology series. Each game is a take of a concept, the same way every series of Fargo is a version on a story,” noted Hawley. “To develop a large-scale action show that can evolve from year to year, while always exploring the core of society through this intricate and turbulent lens, is a ultimate goal. I’m excited to collaborate with Rob and bring our common unconventional, visionary style to the television.”
A schedule for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
