The Gunners Host Wolves in Crucial Top-Flight Encounter

All eyes turn for a fascinating Premier League matchup as league leaders Arsenal welcome bottom-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers to the their home ground.

Starting Lineups

Mikel Arteta's side have introduced three changes following the XI that endured a narrow loss at Villa Park last weekend. The French defender, Viktor Gyökeres and the Brazilian winger are all included in the lineup. Martin Ødegaard and Mikel Merino drop to the bench, while the Italian defender is not involved. Saliba returns after sitting out five matches through injury.

The visitors also have made three changes to their lineup after being soundly beaten 4-1 at Molineux by Manchester United on Monday evening. The experienced full-back, the Brazilian midfielder and the South Korean forward are recalled. Hoever and Jhon Arias drop to the bench, while Bellegarde is not in the squad altogether.

Preamble

Welcome! Because, c’mon …

The standings paints a clear contrast. The hosts sit proudly at the summit of the table, while Wolves prop up the division.

… yet while this will be the 42nd time the top side have faced the team at the foot of the entire table – with 30 victories from 41, with seven draws – which team is responsible for two of the four all-time upsets? Why, Wolves, of course! So while the Arsenal manager will undoubtedly be expecting another three points, Rob Edwards must know that underdogs occasionally succeed, and you never know. The start is at 8 o'clock in the evening GMT. It’s on!

(The other two bottom-beats-top victories in the modern top-flight era are Oldham Athletic's 1-0 win over Manchester United in March 1993, and Tottenham Hotspur – admittedly, this one sounds a bit weird - defeating Liverpool in November 2008.)
