Slot Asserts He Feels Safe and Retains The Club's Support After PSV Eindhoven Loss

Arne Slot admitted that it's natural for questions to be asked about his future after another convincing loss against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their 9th loss in 12 matches, marking the team's poorest streak since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough night at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I am OK, I have got significant support from the top,” the coach remarked.

“It would be great to change things and secure a win naturally but when you're working as a coach and underperforming then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I am OK with my situation. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a difficult position but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with The Board

When asked to elaborate on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot revealed:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful for the squad and to me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me every single minute of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “Through standard discussions I feel the trust. But I haven’t spoken to them since this defeat yet so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Issues and Squad Reaction

Slot lamented known weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, namely missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more direct in his assessment of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones stated.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I’m past getting mad internally. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I play for the side I follow. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool since I was young.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side enduring a phase such as this with outcomes this poor.”

He stated, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our shirts. And as long as it is removed, we will always battle.”

“We’re going to try to help the side return to where it needs to be, prove again what this club is about and why people call it the best team in the world.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
