President Trump Calls Loved Ones of Injured Military Soldiers to the Presidential Residence
President Donald Trump announced on the weekend that he has asked the relatives of a Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the White House.
He noted that he contacted her parents and they were âdeeply grievingâ.
Details on the Devastating Event
Soldier Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a violent incident on last Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her colleague, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in serious condition.
Vigils across West Virginia have occurred in their memory.
White House Call
The commander-in-chief explained heâs discussed a visit to the White House for the loved ones of both individuals of the state National Guard.
âI said: âWhen youâre ready, because thatâs a tough thing, arrive at the White House. Weâre going to honor her,â the president addressed the press. âAnd in the same way with Andrew, recover or not.â
Community Response
Community members came together over the weekend at a local school in West Virginia to honor Sarah.
Both she and Wolfe had been serving with the state guard as part of Trumpâs federal initiative to assist policing efforts in Washington DC.
Paying Tribute to Beckstrom
âSarah was the kind of student that educators desired. She conducted herself with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a positive energy that encouraged those around her,â Jarrod Hankins, the leader of her former high school, informed the Associated Press. âShe was sweet, considerate and always ready to support those in need.â
Funeral details for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.
Judicial Measures and Policy Revisions
Law enforcement have indicted a 29-year-old Afghan national with a charge of homicide and two counts of assault with intent to kill while armed.
The tragedy caused the government to pause asylum applications and temporarily stop providing visas to owners of passports from Afghanistan.
Condition of the Airman
The airman, a resident of Martinsburg, started his military career in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, per the Associated Press.
He continues to receive treatment and is âbattling to surviveâ, the stateâs leader Patrick Morrisey stated on Fox News Channelâs The Sunday Briefing.
Attorney general Bondi informed the program that she planned to speak to the family.
Impact of Beckstrom
Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County high school in 2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a military police officer with excellence, as stated by the state guard.
âShe had a lot of kindness and she absolutely had bravery,â the governor addressed the crowd at the service. âThough her time ended too soon, she has created a legacy thatâs going to endure.â
