Live Match Coverage

21st Minute: Fierce Action while Each Side Battle

21st minute: The Broncos advance to the midfield and nearly pierce the opposition defense through Walsh and Shibasaki on the left flank. A further excellent delivery from Reynolds on the last tackle keeps the Broncos' momentum. Over three plays they remain in control, but a couple of offloads release the rapid Jahrome Hughes, and as he's tackled on the defensive 40m line, a six-again is given for holding down. The Storm are finding their flow, and Warbrick slices through the line, followed by Coates making a sprint – only for Reece Walsh to make high contact with a shoulder charge! Is that a sin-binning? Not according to the referee, says Atkins, because Coates was dropping low. Walsh is under review nonetheless, and Melbourne resume their onslaught.

19th Minute: Munster Leads Melbourne Attack

19th minute: Munster is active as the Storm charge at speed down to their 30-meter line. Down the right, Hughes kicks high, Eliesa Katoa sprints forward, but in the marking contest, the forward loses the ball, and Brisbane finally get a respite.

18 mins: Storm Exert Force on Broncos

18 mins: Melbourne perform a perfect set from the kickoff and apply plenty of force on Mariner with the final kick. Again, the Brisbane fail to reach the midfield in response, and Reynolds is forced to boot it deep to stay in the game.

17 mins: Setback for Melbourne

17th minute: There's a setback for the Storm. Jack Howarth has been replaced due to a groin issue. Wishart is entering in his position.

CONVERTED TRY! Melbourne 12-6 Brisbane (Katoa, 15)

Brilliant, just brilliant. After back-to-back restarts, the Broncos are tiring. On the third play near the try line on the left, Melbourne move the ball inside for two passes before Hughes kicks it off the ground and the charging Katoa times his run perfectly to pounce on the bobbling ball and rise to mark his team’s second try!

From just to the right of the posts, Nick Meaney converts his second goal.

12 mins: Melbourne Display Exciting Attack

12 mins: Melbourne appear thrilling in attack. There’s speed from the ruck, grunt from the forwards, and sharp passing from the outside players. A threatening move concludes with a kick high to the left corner that is dropped by Walsh and results in a penalty to the Storm for an obstruction on Xavier Coates. Melbourne reject the penalty goal and get to work near the goalposts. There’s a six again – and a further one – as Munster weaves left and right.

10 mins: Tense Action

10th minute: Utokiamanu has lived up to his word from the start and his carry from the kickoff allows first Grant, then Papenhuyzen, to dart from dummy-half. Jahrome Hughes boots from 40m and Reece Walsh secures the bomb on his 10m line. Brisbane show reduced thrust in this set and get lucky on the last when Ben Hunt's pass to Reynolds is dropped. Fortunately, the experienced playmaker kicks superbly to force Xavier Coates to retreat and makes the Storm winger to sprint from his try line. The Brisbane are overzealous with their pursuit, catching the winger with a high tackle, and Melbourne can gain favorable territory.

SUCCESSFUL TRY! Storm 6-6 Brisbane (Nick Meaney, 8)

After the scrum, Stefano Utoikamanu drives hard to the 20-meter line. Next, from fast play off the back, every key Storm player get a touch as they move it out to the right hand side until Nick Meaney cuts inside, angles in at high speed, and breaks through a flimsy defensive line to score for an instant reply!

Meaney dusts himself down to add the conversion. We have a shootout!

7th Minute: Both Sides Trade Possession

7 mins: Both sides exchange cautious plays around halfway, but then the Broncos attempt to attack on their left, only to be unable to find Shibasaki with the ball. William Warbrick rushes up and forces a dropped ball for his efforts.

5th Minute: Ideal Opening for Broncos

5th minute: This marks the absolute dream start for the Broncos, taking the lead before the Storm have even handled the ball, in an offensive play led by both Haas and Reece Walsh. The Storm might feel a little aggrieved at Grant Atkins awarding such an quick infringement, but they were soundly opened by the blistering Broncos attack.

SUCCESSFUL TRY! Melbourne 0-6 Brisbane (Mariner, 3)

After kicking downfield, the Broncos get to work. Storm concede a six-again for offside, and in no time the ball is in the danger area. Reece Walsh positions himself? Waiting on the right edge, attracting Jack Howarth, standing his ground, then someway offloading to Mariner on his outside. The winger cuts infield, reaches the line, then barely stays in the playing area as he moves to score beneath the goalposts.

A review occurs before Adam Reynolds kicks the goal, but the video official upholds the referee's call. The venue is erupting to the sound of ecstatic Queenslanders.

2nd Minute: Quick Penalty

2 mins: Corey Jensen, not Payne Haas, takes the first hit-up of the night and the Storm are up sharply… but only a few plays later the Melbourne concede the opening infringement of the night for Harry Grant impeding Payne Haas on the floor. Brisbane right away on the attack.
