Fresh particulars have surfaced about the untimely demises of acclaimed director Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were discovered at their residence property on Sunday.

The Alarm

According to a report quoting a person close to the family, a massage therapist arriving for an appointment was the first to notice something was wrong after being unable to gain access the house. The therapist then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides in the vicinity.

When she went into the home, Romy discovered her father's body. Accounts indicate she then fled the house in anguish, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Another individual who had gone with her contacted 911. Following this, paramedics discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Criminal Charges

Authorities have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of first-degree murder, including the charge related to a weapon, reportedly a knife. He is presently in custody and is ineligible for bail.

Disputed Reports

The anonymous source challenged several earlier details. They said that while Romy Reiner informed emergency responders that her brother Nick resided in a guesthouse on the property, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that juncture.

Furthermore refuted published notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "apprehensive" about Nick's behavior in the preceding period. Instead the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."

The statement includes accounts of reportedly "unstable" behavior by Nick at a party hosted by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the tragedy. While the source stated they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they maintained that reports of a "blow-up" between the two were not correct.

Investigation Timeline

As stated by law enforcement sources, the coroner had still not confirmed at that point whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Some accounts suggested the condition of their bodies suggested they had been dead for some hours.

Nick Reiner was apprehended at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, some 15 miles from the family home. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, stated his client had a medical issue and would not be present until Wednesday at the earliest.
