Barça Ready for Historic Fixture at Renovated Camp Nou over the weekend
Barcelona have announced their first game will take place at the still-under-construction Camp Nou over the weekend. Athletic Bilbao will visit the Bilbao team in the Spanish league over two years following their departure so building work could begin.
“We envisioned this comeback. The moment has arrived. Home again at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Attendance will be limited but 45,401 spectators can be present under the licence granted. Once fully finished, the stadium’s capacity will reach over 104,000 attendees, up from the previous 99,000. Officials confirmed finished work included an updated entryway for the team plus modern locker rooms.
Preparatory Events
Barcelona held a fan-accessible workout at the Camp Nou in early November. Officials stated they were hoping for permission from Uefa to host the next European match against Eintracht Frankfurt on 9 December at Camp Nou. They have been hosting matches in the temporary ground.
